Protecting grain by using K-Obiol
K-Obiol, an insecticide produced by Bayer, is a liquid grain protectant that includes Deltamethrin, Piperonyl butoxide and solvent naphtha. It is a non-systemic insecticide that affects nerve transmission once it is ingested by the insect. K-Obiol can be used on any cereal grain, including wheat, rice, oats, maize and sunflower. However, this product is not approved for use on oilseeds and pulses.
K-Obiol can actually be used on grains in sealed or unsealed storage. Unlike gases, which will evenly distribute on grain over time (in sealed areas only), K-Obiol is a liquid, so we will treat the grain with K-Obiol as it is being loaded into the vessel, which ensures even application and reduces the risk of the grain becoming infested. The method of applications includes diluting it with water and then using spray nozzles to distribute the insecticide.
